The first thing of the Selkirk is that

he is curly as a sheep

and round as a teddy bear!

He has common points with the british,

but you add speed and dynamisme :

And you have a Selkirk!

Yes, the selkirk is just a little bit more

demonstrative than the british.

He is also a little bit more independant.

The selkirk rex is a cat with curls.

And his brother the  selkirk straight

is the same but without curl,

that's why he is not welcome in shows

and is normally selling less expensive

than the rex.

The word "rex" come from latin :

rex, regis which means : King.

It has been used first to qualify a kind of rabbit born with curly hair.

Then the word extende to species of cats

with curly coat...

"Sire Selkirk" is a cat with curly hair because of

a genetic mutation.
